Dr. Alvaro Gomariz of the Computer-assisted Applications in Medicine group at ETH Zurich receives this year's best PhD award from EXCITE Zurich

The work of Dr. Richard Rau and colleagues from the CAiM group has received the Runner-up award for the Best Paper at IPCAI 2021

The 12th International Conference on Information Processing in Computer-Assisted Interventions (IPCAI 2021) has been successfully organized with the involvement of CAiM.

The PhD thesis titled "Ultrasound-based Biomechanical Characterization of Nonlinear Tissue Viscoelasticity using Shear-Wave Elastography and Reflector-Based Computed Tomography" studies ultrasound-based measurement of nonlinearities in soft tissue viscoelastic behaviour as novel imaging biomarkers.

Latest CAiM advances in Ultrasound Image Simulation in Virtual Reality were presented by Dr. Richard Rau and Rastislav Starkov at the World Web Forum 2019.

Hochschulmedizin Zürich, unveiled its new flagship project for 2018. Surgent (Surgeon Enhancing Technologies) aims to set new standards in precision surgery. CAiM is part of the HMZ SURGENT team and will contribute on the project. The project will be led by Mazda Farshad, a professor and director of Balgrist University Hospital, and Mirko Meboldt, professor of product development at ETH Zurich.

The new technology provides a new contrast modality, which can have a large impact and clinical value in several applications from assessing breast cancer to muscle loss in the elderly. Recent developments in the Computer-assisted Applications in Medicine group (CAiM) led by Prof. Orçun Göksel allow such imaging to be performed without the need of any additional hardware, purely as a software solution with their proposed signal and image processing techniques.

The award sponsored by NDI was given during the IPCAI conference 2018, Berlin, Germany, on 20 to 21 June 2018

Ece Ozkan and Prof. Orcun Goksel from the Computer-Assisted Applications in Medicine group of Computer Vision Lab in ETH Zurich have received the "Best Paper Award - Runner Up" at the International Congress on Information Processing in Computer Assisted Interventions.
